What is an Octagonal Blender?

An Octagonal Blender consists of an octagonal cross-section body (eight flat sides) mounted on a horizontal rotation shaft, driven by a motor and gearbox. When the vessel rotates, the flat sides and angular geometry create a more vigorous product cascade compared to the smooth curves of a double cone blender. This produces more intensive tumbling, cross-blending, and better uniformity in a given mixing time.

Working Principle

As the Octagonal Blender rotates at 4–20 RPM, the product inside tumbles in a three-dimensional path dictated by the eight flat sides. Each flat face briefly holds the product before it slides, tumbles, and cascades onto the next face. The angular corners provide additional mixing action as product folds across the edges, creating cross-blending between the two halves of the vessel. This geometry results in faster blend uniformity compared to curved-surface blenders.
