A box type condenser is a type of chemical reactor commonly used in various industrial processes. It is designed to facilitate the condensation of vapours or gases into liquid form by cooling them down. The condensation process is important in chemical reactions as it allows for the separation and collection of valuable products or by-products.
The box type condenser consists of a closed container or box-like structure, typically made of stainless steel, with cooling coils or tubes running through it. These coils or tubes are connected to a cooling system that circulates a coolant — such as water or refrigerant — to remove heat from the vapours or gases inside the condenser.
Inside the box type condenser, the vapours or gases enter through an inlet and flow over the cooling coils or tubes. As the coolant circulates through the coils, it absorbs the heat from the vapours or gases, causing them to cool down into liquid form. This liquid is then collected and can be further processed or stored, often via a receiver. They provide efficient cooling and condensation, allowing for high conversion rates and product yields, while helping control the reaction temperature — crucial in many chemical processes. They are also relatively easy to install and maintain, making them suitable for large-scale industrial applications.

Various kinds of fluoropolymer coating on contact surfaces — including Halar, PP, ETFE, PFA, and PVDF — are available for corrosion-sensitive applications. For pharmaceutical GMP applications, SS 316L contact parts are standard.
