A Multi Column Distillation Plant (also called Multi Effect Distillation Plant or WFI Still) uses multi-effect distillation to produce pyrogen-free WFI from Purified Water. The plant consists of 2–6 distillation columns (effects) operating at progressively lower pressures, an integral condenser, and a WFI collection/cooling system. Each column reuses the latent heat of the previous column's condensing steam — giving the MCDP excellent energy efficiency compared to single-effect distillation.
